Summer doesn’t mean that contact with legislators is over … reach out to D.C.

Get Involved! Summer is a crucial period to advocate for school nutrition programs. During the month of August, Congressional legislators are in their district and there is a unique opportunity to meet with your representatives at home and build key relationships to advance your advocacy efforts.

Here’s how: Check out the wide range of SNA’s great resources:

  • 📕 Advocacy Toolkit: This resource contains a background on the inner workings of Congress, links to engaging quick tutorial videos, and step-by-step guidance on planning and implementing effective advocacy strategies.​
  • 💻 Advocacy 101 Quick Tutorial Video Course: Get a primer on how to advocate for school meal programs with videos available as an exclusive SNA member benefit.
  • 🏫 Cafeteria Site Visits 101: Cafeteria site visits are a great way for legislators to learn how school nutrition programs operate. SNA has created an array of useful resources to help you get started planning this event.
