SNA is Turning 75 – Celebrate with Us!
Welcome to the kickoff of the School Nutrition Association 75th anniversary year! As we reflect on both our historic legacy and our future promise, it is clear this will be no ordinary milestone. The year 2020-21 is expected to be the most dynamic year our profession and organization have ever faced.
All the more reason we can look forward to the 75thyear as one that will mark the characteristic resilience, innovation, and ingenuity of school nutrition professionals like none other. Never were these talents more clearly evident than when the profession immediately mobilized to launch the largest emergency feeding operation in the country at the onset of COVID-19 in March 2020.
Our 75th year is not just about looking at how far we have come, but at how far we will go as we apply leadership, innovation and dedication to meet future challenges. This is the legacy handed down from generation to generation of school nutrition professionals towards our vision of every student having access to nutritious meals at school, while ensuring their optimal health and well-being.
Throughout this celebratory year, leadership and innovation will take center stage while we also recognize the dedication of past, present, and future leaders. Highlights include:
- Advocacy and media relations efforts leveraging our relationships with school nutrition stakeholders and mobilizing our action network to push for critical policy updates to maintain funding for school nutrition feeding operations in response to the changing situations in our communities.
- School Nutrition magazine will celebrate SNA’s past, present, and future, beginning with Decades of Dedication in the August issue.
- Professional development opportunities will continue to expand in the virtual space with a Back to School Webinar Series, fall Directors Best Practices Conference, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion training series.
- Specialized tools for planning in a pandemic, such as the Dining Guide for Meals in the Classroom, Managing Menu Needs, and additional SN digital supplements.
- The Innovative Solution Showcase will offer virtual opportunities to preview new products, equipment, and services and connect members with industry representatives.
In addition, we will be sharing our 75thAnniversary on social media with fun graphics, #TBT posts and trivia throughout the year, so be sure to follow SNA on Facebook to join in on the fun!
The 75th anniversary celebration will culminate at the Annual National Conference in Chicago in July 2021 where we once again gather at the school nutrition event of the year to “Feed the Future!”
